I have a nice bike speedometer and i was wondering if neone has ever put one on there Lakota?....i heard that u mount the sensor on the brake caliper and than mount the magnet to the steel rims somehow....the only problem is with the speedometer i have is i think the wire isnt quite long enough...i will have to check...does neone kno if the wire is like special wire? the older one i had, had like a copper wire with nylon string or something of that sort in the insulation...ne ideas?? Thanx

I saw this done on editor Jim Scharfs 400 Ex in dirt wheels I think . He glued the magnet to a recess in the rear brake rotor and mounted the pickup sensor somehow next to it . He mentioned that the tires need to be 20-22 inches ( similar to a bike tire ) not sure on the wires , probably just an insulater . Take it by a radio repair shop they could help you on the wire part .

Ok well i got it on...i put it on the drive tie-rod...and then put the magnet on the rim on the very outside lip (cuz the mag. it came with had a groove in it) and added some speaker wire to the speedo wire..ran it thru the handle bars and now it works..o and i glued the mag. and sensor with hot glue...i dont kno how long it will hold but its worth a try!!
Do they make speedometers that actually fit wheelers with out modifying it so much like a bike one?? that also doesnt cost everyone a arm and leg?

I have the Trail Tech speedo for my Raptor and it works great. They are made specifically for quads and dirt bikes. They are very easy to install since they are made for your bike. The computer only cost $69.

(edit) Okay, so it doesn't take you to the right page I see. Once you click on the "Here" above, click on "Go to Catalog", then click on "Speedometer", then click on "Trail Tech Speedometer/Computer". This is the computer that I have, but I also have the billet aluminum dash that holds the key switch, all the indicator lights, and the gas vent tube. Very nice!!

Here is a pic of the billet aluminum dash and speedo, it is not a very clear pic of the speedo itself, but you can see that in the post above.
