2001 Mojave won't Idle need help!
#1
Hi, I have a 2001 Mojave and I put about 10 hrs on it after I got it last summer.. I took it out today and the thing won't idle.. Backfires when I go down hills and runs sluggy. I speculate it's got an intake valve out of adjustment but the guy here at the cycle shop says he thinks it's just carb problems. I took out the carb tore it down, cleaned it up, blew it out and it still won't idle unless I have full choke turned on.
Any help would be appricated.

I think you are running lean, move the clip on the needle so it's one notch below the center notch, and adjust your pilot air-screw to 1 1/2 turns out. I bet it's running lean if it is running sluggish down a hill. Is your exhaust stock?
Or you can do the carb cleaner thing, get it reved up enough to "stay" running, and spray some carb cleaner around the rubber intake boot if it revs up by itself when you spray it around the boot, you have an air-leak.

Ok, would love to try this. Not sure what the clip on the needle is? Are you speaking of the Throttle needle? Also not sure where to locate the air-screw is that the one with the little needle that pokes up behind the choke? Sorry, never worked on a Kawasaki 4 stroke before. Yes it's stock exhaust.
You don't think it's a valve then?
