"03 650" valve adjustment at 10 hours? anybody done it?

PICKED UP MY NEW 03 PRAIRIE 650 SATURDAY. MANUAL SAYS TO ADJUST VALVES AT 10 HOURS. HAS ANYBODY DONE THIS. I SURE HATE TO DISTURB ALL THE BODYWORK AND VALVE COVERS AT JUST 10 HOURS. IF YOU HAVE CHECKED THEM, WERE THEY LOOSE OR TIGHT. P.S. THE PRAIRIE IS EVERYTHING I EXPECTED AND MORE....EXCEPT I CANT KEEP MY WIFE(WHO WOULD NEVER LEARN TO RIDE MY WARRIOR) OFF OF IT. THANKS

I did mine on the '02 back in June at 900 miles and 74 hrs. You're right about messing with all the plastic. It's a bear of a job. Once you can get to the valve covers, it's not bad. All my valves were within spec. I'm not going to tell you how to take care of your unit, but I wouldn't worry about screwing with them at this time. Keep an ear tuned and ride it. I also just did my wife's Vinson at 300 miles and they were also within spec. Much, much easier on the Vinson. Little bit of plastic and the gas tank removed and there were the covers.
If and when you do the job, just be patient and remember how all the plastic comes off and in what order.
Good luck!
