Replace it AND send the old one to the manufacture with the story of what happened.
This does two things:
One - you have a helmet on your skull while the manufacture has your old helmet.
Two - the manufacture will look at the helmet and assess it's performance in the accident. It gives them info that may improve the helmets going forward and you may get something out of them for taking the time to send it in. Just ask them to call and let you know they did receive the helmet.
I rode for many years without a helmet and I can't believe that I did. I own extra helmets now so that anyone that shows up to ride with me has one. No helmet - No riding with me. It sets a bad example for my kids and the others around us. Things happen fast and particularly when you think nothing is going to happen.

Yep..helmets are a 1 time item..if you smack them even moderatly hard its time for a new 1..even dropping them can cause the foam and shell to crack..even if you cant see it..the metal plate thats under the polycarbonite and bewtween the foams can get dented and if you hit that spot again..that little dent is going to make a big impression ..on your melon.
