as posted by me and others in previous topics, the idea of a cvt is not necessarily a bad one. technically a cvt is the best tranny because it keeps the engine in a precise powerband all the time and you dont lose time by having to shift. if tuned correctly, it can be a better tranny. i know that because of the polaris and other cvt transmissions and their lack of response and control have left many of us sour to the idea, it has potential and should be given a chance.

hey, look at our snomobiles, cvt's all around. and even with little engines, those things rip.

There are different hp readings. The motor may put out 50 hp but if you are only getting 30 of those to the ground then you really only have 30 hp at the rear wheels. A shaft takes more to operate, therefore it robs a lot of the hp from your quad. A chain will not rob anywhere near the horsepower that a shaft will and a chain is a lot lighter and the gear ratios can be changed. That is why you will never see a shaft in any kind of racing. Not professional racing anyway.

a shaft robs hp because there is more rotating mass. Kind of the same concept of trying to turn bigger tires.

I never said they weren't, I said the KFX700 was a woods racer. Didn't even mention the Bomb or Raptor.

damn... give it a chance before shooting it down. are you people that closed minded to think that there is`nt some better technolgy out there? that sport/utility
whooped alot of sport quads. the thing has`nt even been on the market and
people are chopping it to pieces. i`m sure you are all pro riders, so why not let it get to the public before tearing it up.

wait and see.....

yea, shaft drives are silly.. thats why all race cars use them. because they are so darn silly. there are about 200 more parts to break in a chain, slack in a chain? thats a whole different matter as far as HP loss. i think i`m gonna go buy me a chain drive sprint car....

KISSOFDEATH,

I see your point as well. You can only bash something for so long. But in defense of the other guys, the posts of the dislikes show what else "Joe Consumer" would like to see. In the last 2 years, we have seen a huge influx of new machines. That's great news for guys like you and I as the end result is, there is more to choose from, the machines are better, and the cost stays lower. Just look at the war between the Honda 400EX and the Z400. Now if the manufacturers would only look into boards like this one. We may end up with a quad that has a flux capacitor or nuclear reactor some day if the greenies get their way on the emmissions regulations being imposed on us. Ultimately I feel that people need to be more appreciative on the offerings handed to us. If they don't like it, then they can go out and build one to their specs.
