rennym,

I some how doubt that someone will make a roller secondary for the new KFX 700, but you never know. Heck, I'm wondering if they'll leave the EBS system off of the machine. The article that ATV Action did on the 2x4 Prairie they removed the EBS because they said the sand did as good a job of slowing the machine down as did the EBS. I somehow doubt it will make it to the consumer without the EBS for liability reasons.

I own a P650, 400ex now I raced lt250r's trcate4's and 250R's I did testing for polaris for years.

I think the KFX700 will be a great sport unit, I also see Polaris answering with a 700 twin or 600 twin scrambler.
I do not see this as a replacement to the Raptor, EX or Z type quads just a different marketing stratagy and I and thrilled to death to have more choices. We could be in the 90's again and you could choose from a Banshee, Blaster, 300EX, Mojave and that was it for sport or performance. Lets enjoy the choices we now have.

rennym, You are right. I own a /97 Prairie 400 4x4, but I have ridden a Raptor, a Grizzly, and a 650 Prairie. All were short rides at the dealerships, but were enough to get an idea of the machines. The Raptor is in a different league than the utilities, so its hard to compare. I don't think that Kawasaki is trying to make a quad to compare to the DS or Raptor etc.. With it's weight and cvt tranny, (the 700) would probably compare more favorably to a Scrambler. The thing I wanted to make clear in my last post was that a stock 650 Prairie has virtually no lag time at takeoff. There was a definite lag at takeoff on the stock 660 Grizzly I rode, so if you have just ridden the Grizzly I can see what you mean. When you ride the Prairie you will notice a big difference in lag time (or lack of) at takeoff, (although I never noticed any problem with the Grizzly once it was moving). Thats why I think the 700 should be a big hit. It probably won't be for those of you that want a true racing quad, but it may be the perfect machine for those of us that want a fast, fun quad that can come close to the racing quads and be a lot more user friendly. Let me know what you think of the Prairie 650s cvt.

At first I was confused by the KXF 700. I kept thinking how is a sport quad going to work with shaft drive, CVT and what, 500lbs? I thought well it is a 700 and it would probably work well in the sand dunes but I didn't see it being that much fun to ride on tight trails or over jumps. Then I realized that Kawi wasn't trying to make the next DS 650, Banshee or Quadzilla. Nope, they went the route of the original Wolverine only without 4wd. It was simple, take a utility quad, strip off the racks, 4wd, increase the cc's and suspension travel and viola, instant sport quad. Like was said before it is a lot closer to a Sport 400L or a 2wd Scrambler. Polaris has had this formula for years. Now all Kawi has do is market it as a sport quad and the buying public does this rest.

I'll pass on this one. It is going to be too similar to driving a truck down the trails then ripping around on a lighter, snappier, more responsive, manual clutch sport quad.

I don't think this is really a 700cc unit everything I read says a displacment increase but not by how much. You know how most of this goes THE NEW 400 (375cc) or the 200 BOM 176cc. My guess is this will be like 660 or so but there is no way that KAW would use 660. Then again I may be way off.

hey slightly stock, i dont think they are going to make a 700 prairie, the 650 already meets most or all of their needs, then again, i may be wrong, look what yamaha did with their 600 to 660 grizzly, but i guess they made quite a bit of improvement, but maybe kawi will make 700 prairie w/ irs, and all that good stuff. who knows?!
