torque wrench

sorry to ask so many questions...here is one more.
Could you please recommend a good torque wrench for my work with the 650. I noticed that the ranges in the manual go from 13 to about 240 ft.lb
is there one that will cover this whole range?
What about size(1/4,1/2,3/4) and length (is too long a problem working in these tight spaces?
Thanks again for all of your help.

Get a nice Craftsman, Thorsen, or similar WARRANTIED torque wrench. Get one in 1/2" drive. Mine goes to 150 ft lbs, and does the trick on most everything you will find. I have not encountered anything yet (including head bolts on my GTO) that need that much torque.
Enjoy!

Check out harborfreight.com. I bought a 1/2" clicker torque wrench for $9.99. Lifetime warranty. goes from 10 - 150lbs. I've used it several times. Has not broke and is seems to be very accurate. Although the price is cheap the wrench itself seems to be very sturdy and well made. It's perfect for what I do. You could buy 7 of them for the price of 1 Craftsman. Worth looking into.

Harbor freight has some good stuff sometimes. I bought my single place flatbed trailer, about $200 with a 1000lb capacity. Cheapest I could find elsewhere was $500+. On the other hand I've heard a few horror stories 'bout the cheap tools coming out of the store. If you've ever been into an actual store you'll see a lot of cheap asian stuff that's not worth the increadibly cheap price. It's hit and miss I guess.

I wouldn't trust my stuff to an imported wrench like the ones Harbour freight and Pep boys carry.
I have 3,all american made.3/8 drive 30-240 inch lbs.1/2 drive 20-150 ftlbs and another 1/2 that goes 30-200 ft lbs.
If you have a "clicker" you must turn it down after your done with it.Leaving it "on" will weaken the spring and change its torque.

Yes, this is true. You must turn it back down to "0" for storage and turn it to whatever torque you want each time you use it. No big deal really. We have a store here. Yes, they do have some crap. However, for the guy who just does stuff around the house most of the stuff is fine, but you're right some of it isn't even worth a look. Although, worst you can do is break it. It's kinda like disposable tools with some of this stuff. The Pittsburg line of tools all has lifetime warranty on it. They have a 25 pc. comb. wrench set for $16.99 (was on sale for $12.99). I looked at them in the store. Each wrench was pretty heavy, didn't feel like it was all hollow, like some. Things like that I think are well worth it. You'd pay $125 for the same with Craftsman name on it.

Be careful with the cheapest ones, the sometimes are "stuck" and forget to click when you reach the torque. You have to put them in a vice or on a big tight bolt push them backwards to reset them.
I have one that doesn't click in reverse. I got a cheap one like that once working at a friend's house that we were under a time crunch and it was better to buy a crappy one than drive to my house to get the good one.
Dang, all that talk about cheap torque wrench problems, I think I am going to donate that one to my brother. He is too cheap to ever get one, and at least it will be there when I am at his place.
