The black spring is only $24.95 the red one for the primary pulley is $19.95. It must be true that most 650s come with the belt deflection at the upper limit. After riding and the intitial stretching is done you will hear the chirping sound when pulling out. The dealer is hoping you will bring it in for service at that time to make a killing off you.

As for fine adjustments do it yourself you will appreciate it more use Nyroc's information on his site. Or shall I say MASTER NYROC LOL, he has lots of information many of us have gone to you will find invaluable. A couple of wrenches and you are set give it a try. Have fun.

Bruce--- I live near you. I can show you how to do it, if you like. I have MOST of the shims for belt tension adjment. I DO NOT have the .8mm, and the 1.0mm right now.
Where did you take the bike to get it serviced---ASK, Hind's, or Classic Kaw/Hon?
Do you ride Wayne Nat'l. Forest? I'm down there most every w.e.
I live near Delaware,OH.
NYROC's site has a very good step by step instruction sheet, along with pix of how to make the special tools for belt adjustment.
OH YEAH--- Put the black spring in, when you get the belt adjusted, it has to come out of the driven pulley anyway, during the adjustment process.

PrairiePuppy--- The Erlandson black spring costs $24.95 +shipping. Not $50.00. I just bought one in early Sept. Their service was fast, I ordered on Mon afternoon, I had it Wed. afternoon! No it wasn't shipped overnite air, either. Ground UPS.

Yep, my mistake. I am looking at the invoice from EPI as I type. The Secondary Black Spring (P/N#KSS3) was $24.95. What threw me was that I forgot that I had also ordered brake pads on the same order.

Default 650 belt help please

I got 600 km on my 650. The belt squeks on take off. when i checked the deflection it was 33mm. on the inside of the clutch when i feel with my finger there is a ridge on the side closest to you. Is this from the belt being to loose and can i ride it like this. I now ordered the black spring and saked the dealer to adjust the deflection.
Anyone please?
