650 belt help please
#21
Hey TRX450,
I think I met you a few weekends ago at Camp Ohio. I'm leaving this evening to go down for a long weekend. I'll have a few tools and would greatly appreciate if you could show me how to adjust the belt. I'm all the way at the end of the campground on lot 49. Do you know the part numbers for the shims I need? I went ahead and ordered the black spring. Although I'm sure it won't be in till next week. Hope to see you down there and thanks much for your offer to help!

Bruce, you won't know what shim is needed until you get it apart, unfortunately.
Yep I did meet you. You have a nice alum. diamond plate box on the back of your P-650.
I may not be in the area until Oct 19/20.
The black spring is impressive. I tried my bike out ,down in Hatfield/McCoy trails last w.e.....it (the spring)works GREAT!

Bruce and P.P.--- You can find the part #'s for the 4 available shims at: <www.buykawasaki.com> serch their parts catalogue. You can order from them, or any dealer. The list price will be around $5.50 EA.
P.P.-- I just got back from H/M and a great ride with Todd Nenni and Jeff Hatfield of <www.WVtrailguides.org>. These people are impressive guides. Once they know your ability, they can customize a ride with what YOU want!
FarPost-- Unless that groove is REAL deep, I wouldn't be worried.

Farpost, the black spring and a properly adjusted belt minimize the growth of the groove..
What you will eventually get is the groove will make the takeoff hesitate or jerk. Unless the groove is that bad, ignore it. But don't go another mile without the black spring and a velt adj. Some people put prefilter fabric over their cvt inlet, and that reduces grooving too.

nyroc--- Funny you should mention the pre-filter for the belt. I have been trying to dream up a filter of this "plastic steel wool". The stuff they use for filters on house roof ridge-vents. What do you think?

TRX450 and MonteSS,
I ordered the replacement front brake pads from Erlandson Performance Inc. The Part Number is #WE445345 for one side (the left I think) and #WE445355 for the other. The price is $31.95 per pair. Since rear pads are not listed on the web site, I emailed an inquiry and they (EPI) do not offer them at this time.
