9in. tires on 10in. rims
I used to work in a tire shop adn can tell you that there is no way that anyone in the right mind would attempt to mount a 9" tire on a 10" rim. My dad was working with me one day and we had a guy come in with a tire wanting it mounted on a rim that he supplied. The tire was a 16" adn as we found out later, the rim was 16.5". My dad took on the job as I attended the gas pumps. I was inside getting change for a priest when all of a sudden KABOOOOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!!!! I ran back to the tire shop to a cloud of dust after the priest and I shared some explitives. The tire/rim combo blew 12 feet in the air and knocked a hole in the ceiling the size of 2 Geo Metro's. Luckily my dad was off to the side and the only thing hurt was his hearing. It literally sounded like dynamite going off.
After investigating what happened, we found that the rim was bigger than the tire. This was obviously my dads fault for not measuring the rim to see if it was the right size. The bad thing was is he actually got the tire over the 16.5" rim. So this can happen. If your not certain about doing a task such as this, take it to someone who is. It could save your life, SERIOUSLY! An exploding tire is capable of taking off someone's head, especially split rims.
