Default mobil 424

Please help with two questions:

1. Can any of you tell me where I can find Mobil 424 for the 650 rear diff? I don't want to go to my dealer to get it, but none of the auto stores around here have even heard of it.

2. My other problem is, when I went to get an oil filter (using the list on Nyrocs site), they all seemed hesitant about using anything other than the oem filter (they said things like "different numbers of filter papers could make it not get the amount of flow that the engine needs" etc.) Now, I am admittedly not the worlds best mechanic, but I do know that I trust Nyroc's opinion on the p650. I bought one anyway.

Any insight on these two things would be great!

You can get your 424 from a truck parts store like Fleet Pride or from a heavy equipment dealer like Carter/Catipillar, however don't expect to get a quart be prepared to buy either 5 or 55 gallons. Myself and a few other members have bought our 424 from Cat dealers amd I must admit $30 for 5 gallons beats the hell out of $7-10 per quart for Kawachem.

Pcpacker
go to your nearest bulk fuel shop , give them the # mobil 424 . They can check their interchange chart , i believe all oil dealers carry other brand names to do the same job.

If it didnt say Mobil 424 I wouldnt use it. I talked with the mechanic at my dealer and he said a guy put another oil different than the mobil 424 or kawachem and it cost him a rear in job LOL out of warranty too.

What about the 424 in the front diff? Is that what the dealers are putting in? I know that many of you are using 20W50 in the front differential.

In the front differential you should use either engine oil (same specs as the v-twin) or differential fluid, I use the Kawachem differential oil but its not necessay I just do it for my own piece of mind.

Okay, just so I am clear on this.

Mobil 424= Kawachem final drive and wet brake oil (to be used in the rear differential only)

My dealer told me he had to buy five gallons from Grainger's. He told me to bring my quad in and he would change it for ten bucks while I waited.
