I have to agree with that. I couldn't outrun a guy on his 400EX with my Prairie. But you have to consider that the Prairie is racing with one arm tied behind the back because of that CDI. The Prairie's motor is purposely limited in it's performance by the CDI. Once that new CDI is installed and the 650 released from it's constraints, there won't be any 400EX's outrunning a Prairie.

 

One thing I might add.....I'm not sure if that 400EX that beat me was stock or not. It is supposed to be stock, but who knows? Someone may be keeping a secret to make it seem theirs is naturally faster than mine.

 

Like I said I own both I like both I have no reason to lie. Both bike are well maintained and stock, the P650 has more power and that is obvious but it also has a bunch more weight and that is a big factor. Like I stated and rebel said as well if you swap the CDI and make the correct change to the CVT to accept the extra power then a 400ex will get beaten.

 

Daimon If I implied that you were'nt telling the truth, I did not mean it that way, I said you have a fast ex hold on to it. none here will beat mine though, and Jeff Fox agreed, because he has bothe also,to each their own, .......I also ignore inmature comment's like the one above from Mag500, I'm 35 yr's old Mag and don't need to argue with childish people such as yourself,moron stupid, O.K. dude whatever makes you feel like a man. maybe you'll grow up someday........

STAKK I was not ansewring you I am 34 and have riden all my life. I said earlier that you need to know how to ride the 400ex to get all you can. The thing about an auto is it is easier to get all the power in more situations even if you are not a racer.
I am looking foward to the V700 I think that will be a great quad, the thing w/ the new autos that the old lacked is b/c of the braking there is no lag when you jump back onto the throttle w/ the older units you gave gas and had to try and time it so it came on when you needed it.
I think the P650 is to wide in the middle and for my riding is to heavy but the power is awsome.

 

Thank's Daimon, you seem to know your stuff, some dude named Mag500 posted some real inmature comment's about me and I had it removed, so I was trying to clear the air, nothing against you...... Do you have your 400 jetted for your altitude or have you done nothing to it, because when my 650 was stock the ex's around here were as fast on top speed but could not drag with the 650 I would pull them of the line and they would not catch me until about 60-62 mph, then if we had enough room and they were light enough they may have a little faster top speed, some race motocross and know how to ride,as to not pull wheelie's off the start so they were a fair race, Oh well keep that ex it sound's like a keeper.....

 

lol i duno how this forum started a conversation about a 400ex and a p650 and which ones faster.....i think they're both great machines.....i have a p650 and my friend has a 400ex and i think they are both very well buil machines.....the only reason i dont have a 400ex is that i use REVERSE alot......for alotta the stuff i do and i would prefer a bike w/ reverse.....i mean ya, w/o reverse it prob has a higher top speed, but i juss ride i dont drag much.....at my camp, theres not many places to bring out the full potential of either machines.....personally im juss waiting on the 700kfx and if theres sumthina bout it i dont like, im definatly buying a z400 or kfx400....my suzuki and yamaha dealer is selling a z400 with supposedly $400 of upgrades i forgot what they were ill go check it out again for only $4100, its brand new.....in what i have seen, for a stock z400 thats a nice price. ill hafta look into that if the 700kfx is not what i expected!

 

The first thing I do is rejet. On the Kaw it was a pain but it is also spot on now. Also when I get a new bike or quad I pertty much tear it down and locktite everything but the gas cap then go through a breakin routine. I then change the oil and start working on setting up the suspension.
All of my quads get meticulas(sp hell I can not spell my name) care, I figure for the money in them it is more than worth keeping them in perfect shape.

 

The latset Dirt Wheel's with the write up on the 700v-force was interesting, The thing that caught my atten. was the Kaw rep's, and the one's that got to ride it said it will outrun EVERYTHING out there and have a higher top speed than EVERYTHING out there, now those are BOLD statement's with Banshee, Raptor, Ds 650, and those fuel injected Cannondale's, does anyone think it will be THAT fast???
