They add 8 pounds total to the turning weight. They look like they sit lower. I would say that the amount is minimal(less than an inch). These tires hook up unbelievable. Radial tires have a better contact patch with the ground. When the sidewall flexes when cornering the contact patch stays put. Unlike bias tires. Radial tires also have a longer tread life than bias. I'm not sure about the strengh of the sidewall when encountering sharp objects. I imagine it's about the same as a bias tire. It has to be better than stock (2ply VS 6ply). If you want to ride a 650 with ATR's come on over any time.

Thanks for the information and the offer to ride your quad YoeSeaOh, but I'm about 3,000 miles West of you, so that would be kind of hard to do. I hope you have good luck with the ATRs. I also want to check out ITP's Mudlites. They may give a little more height than stock at 25" and they also sound like good tires.

scootdog, with work and family commitments, plus winter coming, I'll have to wait til next year to go on any long rides, so maybe then. I appreciate your offer though. I have heard good things about the 589's, but they may be a little heavier and more mud oriented than what I would like. I know the 650 has enough power to turn them though. The only 650 I have ridden was at the local dealers' lot on 2 different occasions (same machine) and the machine had 27" Blackwater XTs on it. I was too busy hanging on to notice much about the tires at the time! Very impressive---and they are heavy tires too! I have a /97 Prairie 400 4X4, so needless to say there is no comparison in power. I hope I can upgrade one of these days, but it will probably be a while, but who wouldn't love that power and the sound of that V-twin? In the meantime, I want to learn as much as possible about the different tires so I will know what to get when I do upgrade.
What difference did this black spring make on your machine? Does it engage more positively? Did it change your top end speed?

I just put a set of the ATR's on my 650 and like them really well, everything good that the other's have said on this thread is true and I have'nt found anything negative about them, plus I bought my set on e-bay for $247.77 plus $20.00 shipping, they have them on about every week....
