650 wiring ?

The hot wire for the reverse light is always hot with the key on, so you can't use that.
The light comes on when the revese switch grounds the negative pole of the revese light. That wire is red with a white stripe (R/W it says in repair manual). I do not know if that switch can take as much current as you need for the light, so you may want to think about using a small relay that is activated by that revese switch to give you the power to run big backup lights.

Unless you would use the clear LED lights. They draw very little current. My Motor cycle I can't use them because they draw so little current my taillamp "burned out indecator" stays on all the timeand doesn't even see it in there.

Thanks for the info.
I put the relay under the seat right below the tool box. I spliced into the red/white under the seat in works great. Thanks for telling me that it is a ground switch, saved me alot of cursing. Who knows I could of had a fit and knocked over my beer.
Cost of light- $15
Relay and connectors- $8
Working on my quad and having a beer- PRICELESS!!!
