2003 360 squeal clutch worn
I also bought my 360 used and about 2 and a half months old and it does the same thing with the belt. I talked to my dealer about it and he said to bring it in and they would get it fixed. About the gas mileage, mine seems to do pretty decent on gas while its in 2wd but when I drive in 4wd its a gas hog. Otherwise the only other problem I have had is that the camo covering is chipping off in a couple places but its because I accidentally hit it with the winch cable.

Hi guy...another Newfie in the mix...glad to see you here. I have a kawi 650 and mine made a squeal at take off a couple of times...thats when I decided to adjust the belt. It had 1300kms on it. I made a spring compressor as per "nyrocs" instructions and took out the shim on the driven pulley and added the Black spring from EPI. My belt is very tight now and grabs like a savage. It was a simple procedure believe me. My driven pulley had a slight grove in it...but nothing to worry about. I read somewhere that if you have squealing on takeoff, that you should stop riding and get the belt adjusted and/or replaced as soon as possible... as continuing to ride will only wear the sheave surfaces. Maybe "Nyroc" can confirm this. As for changing the belt...you do not need any special tools and it is VERY easy. The longest part of the procedure is taking the CVT cover off...maybe 5 mins. The belt...maybe another 2mins. So to all you non belt lovers out there...UP YOURS!!! Kawi has made this belt system so easy to work on that I would actually bet money I could do it loaded drunk , eyes closed , one hand tied behind my back all while being pleasured by a very fine lady!!! I LOVE the belt drive. Oh and the part of you selling your bike for a new Honda...what possible machine do they have to offer that has everything the 360 has? None? I thought so. Keep your rig, it has features galore and its a great ride and it's simple to work on. As for gas mileage...the best I'm getting is about 100kms per tank and the most I put in her so far has been $11 worth...I do have a very heavy thumb and I'm quite pleased with the mileage as a result. Good luck and keep us posted with any developements.

Hey, mine is fixed, took it to the dealer and he said the guy that had it before I did must have left it in high all the time and that the belt must have been out of adjustment since new. He put a new belt on and cleaned up the clutches in a day without an appoinment and all for free since it squealed since we got it. So now Im happy with the beast once agian and I think I might just take her to the badlands in attica on sunday. If anyone is going to be there let me know.

Forget the last post, I went for an extremely short ride today and the belt started its damn squealing thing agian so its going back tomarrow. Im starting to get really pissed. First they told me it would go away, then it gets worse. Next, I take it in to have the belt adjusted and they keep it for two days, when they called to have me pick it up they said they put the new belt on and cleaned out the clutches. Now after a less than 5 min. ride the damn thing is squeaking agian. Should I get the new spring for it??? If anyone thinks that may help, tell me where to get it and how much. Thanks

Are you sure it isn't squealing at idle? It is a good thing if it is. If it squeals on takeoff, it is not a new belt.
Take a look at it yourself. It is cake. You save gas ($2 to $10), and you save a lot of frustration from not going to the dealer ($priceless), and you know it is fixed right.
