extended warranty-p650
I just got a letter from Kawi asking me to rethink my decision not to get the extended warranty. It is $495 for 24 months, $605 for 36 months, and $715 for 48 months. I only have 12 or 13 hours on the quad, and so far so good. It is worth it to me to buy this protection? I would rather get holeshot ATRs on new wheels, but I also don't want to be stupid. Please advise.

pcpacker,
You are certainly not being stupid because your thinking about it.
I would get the holeshot ATRs on new wheels and take my chances. I would say your odds are better than going to Vegas that everything will end up fine.
Myself, I have never purchased an extended warranty and I am money ahead.

Before you buy your warranty take a look at E-Bay. Search by kawasaki warranty. You can buy 3 yr. 4 wheeler factory extended warranties for $299.00 and 4 yr warranties for $399.00 almost anytime. I'm going to buy their in the next 2 months. If you don't see any your first attempt. Look back in a week. You can savings alot of cash. I have seen loads of them going through there.

Dont get the warranty...only advantage will be the black plastic trim...which is no big issue...get tires and insurance...the only real problem that i have encountered is the belt and the extended warranty will not cover it...the initial warranty didnt cover it...heck, kawasaki wont even talk to you about it. Everything else on my quad has held like a tank and has run like a peach. You might find a good deal on ebay...but honestly i would roll the dice. Extended warranties have never shown me to be a good deal...but that is my opinion. You are more likely to damage it riding then it just going bad...belt no included...even with the belt NYROC has come up with some tips for taking care of that...dont get the warranty

there are a few. Thanks for the idea about looking on ebay, that will save a bunch of ppl some money, who want the assurance of the extended warranty. Maybe and hopefully you won't need it. I bought one on my sea-doo and never used it. I bought one on my tahoe and used it for about $4000 worth of parts, and the warranty was $1600. Bought one on my old wrangler. Went thru 3 clutch plates and slave cylinders for some reason between 60-80k and the driveshaft broke completely off and fell on the ground one time. The extended warranty definitely saved me. Its your call, but I'd say 400 on ebay is a lot better than kawi's suggested retail. You can probably show the ebay offer to your local dealer and have them match it honestly.. Hmm, i may try that when I buy it =] thanks monte and ken
