MAKOTA...wild machine, check it out!
#1
I just wanted to tell you all about a wild hibred I saw done by a dealer on Wednesday morning.
I was off to another town in search of a Green Machine. When I got to the dealer, he shattered my hopes on being able to consider it for a new quad. He explained that most dealers didn't order many because of lack of sales the past few years due to awfull colors. He called around only to find there were none availble until the 2001 models come out.
After that he said, I have something i'd like to introduce you too. It's one of my personal projects. We all call it the Makota. It was a 2000 Lakota with team green plastic, ceet seat cover, nerfs, no racks and a Mojave bumper with lights installed and with the Lakota bumper on top with the lights and special reinforcment bars made to go from the Lakota light guards to where the front rack goes through the fender plastic to connect.
It was super sharp! $5,000 sharp! To rich for me for the (slower?) Lakota even though it was a one of a kind.

I can sympathize with your problem (see my post "You guys are scaring me") My dealer bought the only two in Michigan. I guess I got lucky. I've seen several other posts about people not finding them.
I asked my dealer about the availablity problem. I delt with the owner, so I think its believable. He handles six quad manufacturers, and has been around a long time, so I don't think he has a reason to BS me. Anyway, he has a different take on it. He told me when he orders bikes, he looks at the previous sales figures, and he did not sell very many Mojaves over the last few years. People just did not want them (awfull colors?). But this year, with the new Team Green scheme, they are selling every one they make. Which sadly is not very many.
I also agree about the colors. I have a picture archive of every model year of Mojave, and looking at some them I can't help but say to the Kawasaki Marketing Department; What were you thinking???
While I'm on my soap box; Memo to Kawasaki, if you want to sell bikes, you need to advertise them!!! Look at Yamaha, there all over the place! Again, what are you thinking?
Well I'll stop now. Sorry for getting off topic, but you pushed a hot button. The Macota sounds like a cool bike that would turn a lot of heads out in the "wild".
