I was wondering of you can put 28-9-12 and 28-11-12 589s on a P650? It seems like thay might rub the gas tank what do you think. also if I figured it up right the total weight of the tiers would be 120lbs. Will that much weight rob muck power or will I be able to tell a differance? thanx for any info.

Guys, in my opinion, bigger is NOT always better. With the larger tires, yes, it looks badass....but, you give up speed, suspension dynamics, and turning radius.
I went with the 26" 589's since they are almost the same height as stock tires. I have not found a place yet I cannot go through....but at the same time I don't try to float rivers either.
Will 28" tires fit? Yep, but you better be ready to re-jet, snorkel, black spring, etc....to get it to perform and "feel" like it did with the stock tires.
My .02 cents...and I am back quiet.

Tommyboy,
The tires that come on the 650 are 25" on 12" rims. Most people who sport ride like to keep the tires close to the same size, those who mud bog alot like to go with 27" or 28". Heavier tires will rob a bunch of power from your 650 since it has to sling all that weight around, you might want to check out the new ITP mudlites, they are lighter than most aftermarket setups.

Tommy I ran a set of 28 589s I borrowed from a friend who was trying to get rid of them. I was completly unimpressed (but I was compairing them to 26 Mud liets) They turned my quick and responcive ATV into a slow lombering beast . I do not ride much deep mud (none that my 26s wont do)if I did I might have a different view . In short they will work and the power they rob is more than noticable. So was the lack of handling. If you mud bog get them thay are not much fun other than that.

I am running 589s 28-9-12 and 28-11-12 on stock rims on my 03 P650. They clear everything without any difficulty. They may pose a small clearance problem with after market wheels but I sure have no problems with the stockers. I also have the stock wheels mounted up for running on the hardpack and gravel roads. Good luck with your tires, I didn't notice much power loss. The 650 has enough to go around.

Tommy the set I ran on the 650 were also on stock rims. Keeping a second smaller set like CJ5V8 says is the way to go. I will even dump the 26s for the summer and go to 25 ATRs. I hate to give up any proformance ( to many years of racing 20+ ) As of now I smoke the other 4x4 in my club including 3 650s and like it ( Im getting old and got to hold on to what I got cause it aint commin back when its gone ) if I start into deep mud I will need 3 sets.(the wife an,t gona like this)Ya 3 sets.
