Well that was not as much of an adventure as I thought it would be. Took about 2 hours total and looks like it all works fine. I did loose one of the screws that hold the handle bar plastic on somwhere. I heard it fall, but after 15 minutes of searching gave up and just put in a new one.

The thumb heater is really nice. Gets hot quick. Really my thumb is the only thing that has gotten real cold so far, but the total heated package will be real nice.

For those of you with heater grips, where did you mount the big resister? I bedded mine in silicone on the back of the little cover that gives yuou access to the radiator cap.

Hi TracToy,

Can you please tell me which heated grips/thumb warmer you purchased? I'm thinking about buying the Soft Grip - Hot Grip heated grips but I'm not sure where to purchase them for cheap.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

The grips are hotgrips. They seem to work fine (testing to follow) But the kit is pretty lame. They do not provide connectors, fuses, or enough wire to complete the install. I am still a bit concerned about the glue they recommended in the instructions I go and buy at Wal Mart.

The thumb warmer is by Symtec and the kit was great! Everything was included and the directions were right on.

I just installed both thumb warmer and hot grips this weekend on two machines it went well I used a relay to turn the power on to the switch so if the wife or I forget to turn them off the there won't be a dead battery when we go to ride them again. I also wired them using only one switch instead of having two switches I soldered all the leads, I don't trust those quick conectors and under the harsh enviroment in the summer I don't want to have to recheck the wireing every winter to get them to work.

The high/low resistor can make a fair amount of heat, especially when on "low". Check yours for excess heat build-up from time to time. The silicone may not allow the heat to bleed off.

Hey Tractoy,

Where do you ride? I live in Saratoga Springs but most of my riding is done in the Lake Luzerne, LG, Warrensburg, Glens Falls Area. I belong to an informal group of about 8 Quads that go riding every Wednesday night. (Weather and Conditions Permitting) The top of Prospect Mt. is one of our favorite places to have a midnight BBQ! We also have a few special areas that we have a tracks set up on for oval racing. Where did you buy your 650? I got mine in at Troy City Garage as Sportline would not negotiate!

I mounted mine right to the the frame like a giant heat sink for the resistor.

FastEd - I ride up here by house mostly. But I am in the middle of working on what might be a new ATV riding park in Lake George just west of Prospect Mountain. I'd love to hook up with you and take a ride sometime. Give me a call 798-8811

I bought my machines and my accessories at Sportline Honda in Glens Falls.
