Default Penland Series Big Gun

I looked on the Big Gun web sight and didn’t see anything about the Mike Penland Series. Has anyone got any info or experience with it? How loud is it compared to stock? Can you only get a full system or can you just get a silencer? Thanks for any info.

We now have the Penland exhaust on the 650 and it sounds great, not too loud and that is without the washer you can also install to reduce the noise even more. Be prepaired to spend a little over $400 to get the exhaust. We had the HMF on it before and are extremely impressed with the performance and sound of the Penland exhaust over the HMF. J Dahl

I am waiting for the income tax to come to order one. How much larger are the pipes to the muffler over the stock ones.

Here is a picture of the Penland series headpipe compared to the stock one.

They claim to use a "stepped head pipe" that matches the exhaust port, then gradually increases in size. I just finished the install. It sounds awesome, not too loud, but when you get on the throttle, people will know I'm coming!

There is not much difference in the tube diameter compared to the stock exhaust tubes. The HMF that I took off has alot larger tubes tho. We have not done a decible test on it yet but we plan to after we get the reducing washer from Mike but I doubt it would make the 94db without the washer and maybe not even then. You can contact Mike Penland at 706-746-2812. He should be able to tell you more.

It wasn't too bad to install. Had to pull some plastic loose on the left side. Took the left rear tire off to get better access, but that was it. Also had it up on lift, which allowed the suspension to hang a bit for some extra room. Had to snake the stock pipe out, but the new one went in pretty easy.
