Default Warn 2500 ATV winch...

Got me a 2500 Warn winch for my wheeler. Its used but the price was right <--free! My Brother in Law bought it for his Foreman and never put it on so he gave it to me, has new cable and hook, regular fairlead, wiring and rotary switch. Not a bad deal, now just have to mount it. Anybody have suggestions for different mounts for the 400? most are external and I dont care for that much, I might make my own mount too. All ideas appreciated! Thanks a bunch.

If you have the rotary switch then you have the Warn 2000 lb model. The 2 winches are the same, the only difference is the switch and solenoid. The heavier winch uses a heavier solenoid which allows more amps to flow to the motor. The 2000lb model's solenoid is round, and the 2500 is rectangular. You can buy an upgrade kit from most supply houses, the heavier winch usually uses the plug in remote or handel bar mounted wocker switch.

Thats funny, I could swear it sais 2500 on it, although its been a while since i laid eyes on it. The harness is kind of hacked up too, maybe its not stock? Being an electronics tech, I was going to make my own harness anyway, and do away with the large clunky rotary looking switch. Thanks for the link!

The 2 winches are exactly the same, only difference is the switch/solenoid setup. I have the 2000lb set up and it's worked great since '98 when I bought it.

Ive looked at all the sites I can find, some have mounts for the 400, but nobody has a picture of it. I think its out front of everything down low, but cant tell. Anybody know of a pic of one on a 400? Thanks again!

Default Warn 2500 ATV winch...

Thanks for all the help guys. After much searching and not finding very many pictures, although I did find every price you could imagine, I found the mount I want, I like the fact that it "covers" the winch since it does have to mount way out front. its less than 50 bucks and will look good too

Ramsey and Warn bolt to the same mount

Thanks for the help!

Your 2500lb winch has an internal brake that the 2000lb Warn doesn't have. Other than that, the motor and gearbox are the same.
