Hey alltoys
I just got a call from my mechanic so I went out to check on the dial-a-jet install. He thought he had a wrong fitting but he didn't, he didn't realize that you drill and tap the carb. Anyways he thinks (he is a motorcycle mecahic with >20 yrs experience) that the dials should be mounted inside the airbox on the air intake boots. I told him to go ahead a do that. He said that they'd be really hard to get to if asked him to mount them on the carb. The directions aren't for down draft carbs so it makes the install a little more difficult. Does this sound like a good way to go?

Its a good thing we talked over the phone by the time we converse over the net, well its hard to get the gist of what is happening. You are going to have a powerful machine when all you want to do is done. The best thing is the Kawi is prime candidate for modds anything you do will wake it up. perseverance is the name of the game and you seem to have lots of it good going!!!!

Thumpin was contemplating that very same thing. What I found was the suction created by the carbs in the airbox suck fuel or reverse the function of the dial a jets. If you put the dial a jets in the horn on the inside of the airbox you must attach the snorkle portion to the jet and route the tubes out through the airbox away from the suction created by the carbs. The end of the tube can still be attached high above the airbox snorkle close to the handle bars or somewhere away from water intake. The only problem can be the fit of the snorkle to the dial a jets not tight enough and the jet will not work as intended.

Hey alltoys-- I got mine mounted to the side of the boot. The mechanic didn't use snorkels because he didn't know about the vacuum issue. I'll try it out and see if I have any problems and give you a report. I don't have access to a drill right now or I'd do it, have a hunt trip planned tomorrow--
