I just noticed a lot of heavy grease coming from the front outer boot where the shaft meets the wheel. There's grease packed into the bottom of that aluminum piece by the lower knuckle. Has anyone ran into this problem? It's still under warranty so I guess I'll just bring it to the dealer.

thumpin...it is real easy to take the cv axle out. I had an inner boot leaking. Took the axle to a local front end shop and got both inner and outer boots packed and replaced for $30 total!!! If you do not have a Service manual, get one now. It will walk you through taking the cv axle out.

thumpin...You can get the boot kits from Rockford Constant Velocity. The part number for the inner and outer boot is the same. It is a 161-10.
Call them at 815-962-1411 or see them on the web at www.rockfordcv.com.
There boots are much heavier than stock!

Encore, I called up Rockford constant velocity and they said that 161-10 was the right part number for the inner but 712-10 was (the guy wasn't sure but this is what was listed for a KVF 400) the right part number for the outer. Are you sure that both inner and outer are 161-10? Also are these botts better than the Gorilla axla boots?
