Melting tail lights & Helmets
Hello
I have a 2001 prarie 300 4x4 that I purchased new. A few weeks ago the headlights quit working, I took them apart and fond that they had both melted the plastic housing and blown the bulbs, also the bulbs were stuck in the sockets. I went to my dealer and he told me that I was not the 1st person in with this problem. He stated that you need to keep moving to cool the headlights. I could not find that is the owners manual. I called kawasaki and the said they were unaware of any headlight mellting on my machine. I spent $142.00 for new parts that will melt again if not carful. I feel sorry for the person who burns out their lights while out in the wilderness, this sounds like a saftey issue that should be addresed. Time for a honda as kawasaki is not going to help out with an obvious problem. If anyone want to call me for more info 319-235-9898.

I agree it is a problem, but on a 3 year old machine destined for usage in the muck, I dont think Honda would fix it for free either. I would sooner tape flashlights to my front racks than bore myself with a Honda..... sorry.
But yes, I remember reading somewhere that if you arent moving, your headlights will get very hot. Now that you are aware of this, I bet your second set of lenses could last you a very long time.
