Local media can be pretty right wing sometimes. It all depends what part of the country you're in. Media outlets in rural areas generally do not want to **** off the people who hunt, fish and enjoy outdoor activities. Last year I was even in the Altoona (PA) Mirror. There was an article on the "good uses" of ATVs as a recreation and work tool. There was no down side to it. I was actually featured prominently in it. Believe it or not, it wasn't a hack job. The quoted me completely in context and let me tell my side of the story. It was really good PR for our sport.
Just don't expect this kind of coverage from all media outlets. Most specifically the national media. They tend to be slightly left of Fidel Castro and want to keep viewers in front of their TVs. This is why outdoor activities are generally frowned upon.
