Default New P650 question

BJones - the dealer sold you the machine and the pipe, plus did the installation. Make them tune it until it works right. Oh, and get the EPI black spring too.

Default New P650 question

Bjones, I suggested taking your airbox cover off only as a test to see if they had you running to rich, when they put your "carb kit" in whatever that is. It seem from what your saying that you aren't.

There are three things that is needed to increase power.

1. is let your motor breath, you have done that (big gun)

2. because your motor breaths better you need more gas (jetting) If they jetted at all in wasn't much.

3. because your motor now can breath and has more gas, it's need more air. (shorkel)

The two things your missing is #2 and #3, before you'll see a difference you'll need to get more air, (holes or snorkel) and then you need to jet to that. There is no use jetting until you get more air, because it won't change anything.

I would do what NovaKaw650 says, take it back, They'll find you some more speed before they take the mods back.

Default New P650 question

I ordered the black spring and a snorkel. I called the salesman that I bought it from and he told me to bring it in. Should I install the snorkel and spring before I take it in. I will be asking more questions when I get ready to install the spring. Thanks again for everyone's help.

Let them put the snorkle on themselves, or they'll blame the problems you've been experiencing on the snorkle. Plus, if the dealer re-tunes it and gets it right, when you do put the snorkle on it will make it run lean again. Put the black spring on right away, it has no effect on the engine tuning.

Default New P650 question

The salesman told me they replaced the front jet of the carb with the back jet and put a larger jet in the back. Does this sound right? I do not know what sizes they are.

Stock is 138 front, 142 back. They would have put the 142 in the front and a 145 in the back. A good place to start.
