NovaKaw650,

What frequency are you sending to the CDI? Are you cutting the signal in at the pink wire? Have you clipped the wire between where you cut in and the speed sensor plug? I would like to tune my frequency generator to the right frequency to get maximum ignition advance. Please respond. I might be interested in providing the service of assembling these units for others when I have proven them out. What price is your dealer charging for the unit?

Regards,
ED

Is there much to the install or setting up of this unit? Will it come with instructions?

I have been assured from a very reliable source that this type of bottom end improvment will be incorporated in the new cdi. I was told not to try to mix signals between the cdi and any other devices other than what came with the Prairie, or risk engine damage at my expense?

Any engine damage that occurs as a result of modifications, including anything supposedly caused by the hopefully soon to be available CDI, will always be at the owners expense.

My personal plan is to use the modulator, and then sell it to someone that doesn't need the top-end power of the CDI, should I choose to get the CDI. And that will be only if the modulator won't be needed with the new CDI. When the CDI was first discussed, there was talk of a bit of a gain on the bottom end, with the majority coming on top. This modulator has given a big gain on the bottom.

And with our worthless Canadian dollar, price is a factor. A modulator is 1/3 the cost of the CDI. But when I can afford it, and it's available, I want the CDI too.

scott, It seems like your bike and red650 are alone... Now I guess I have to do some mods to mine now. It's nice isn't it, I knew something was in that thing before I seen the frequency mod in Red650's.

Modulator drawback - I checked my top speed: I lost about 5mph! I'll put my toggle switch for the speed sensor/modulator selector on the bars so I can switch back and forth between the two. To be fair, I'll have try another run with the speed sensor hooked back up - it's been awhile since I've tried a top speed run.

Nova: Does the power come on smooth,or is it real sudden like?I use my machine on a lot of trails with steep hill climbs and dont really carefor wearin the thing(done it once that was enuf)but the extra power would be very good.I dont need the extra top speed, already can slaughter anyone I ride with(I can on the bottom end to I guess but who ever has enuf of that).

If you are below 3-4 mph and mash the throttle, prepare for lots of wheelspin. When you ease on the throttle, you still get a smooth takeoff. You will see the biggest difference from a dead stop or slow roll.
