Modulator Box

Guys,
My friend and I made a pulse generator and fed a 550 Hz signal to the speed sensor plug and got the spedo to read 28 MPH. We felt that the ignition was probobly advanced to an acceptable level at that point as the quad normally pulls very hard at that speed. We then reattached the speed sensor plug and cut the pink wire on the CDI and fed our 550 Hz signal to the CDI directly. Unfortunately, we did not see a major difference in the way that the engine reved. There was still a great hesitation from idle. The engine did appear to rev more freely from about 3,000 RPM and up, but that may be from the recent Nyroc exhaust mod. We wanted to take a timing light to verify the timing with our little mod, but when you remove the timing cover, oil sprays out of the hole while the bike is running making timing a real pain in the a$$. My tires are studded currently so I have to wait untill I can get back on the ice to see if the mod has increased my power and top speed. Currently it is 62mph on the ice in 4X4 with 5 psi of tire pressure. I got 64 MPH on the road this fall. I am thinking the crafty people at Kawasaki have dual ignition retard sequences, one based on vehicle speed and a second based on engine rpm. I plan on doing a number of tests this weekend.

A local dealer got me a new mass produced "acceleration module" (frequency generator). Put it in this morning. Not hard wired yet, but in. It's all about bottom end power! I've got a winch on the front that holds the machine down pretty good; if you hit the throttle from a dead start on the pavement, it WILL flip back over over on you immediately! You have about 1 second to decide whether to slack off or wear the machine on your face! I see some guys with homemade units saying they lost a couple miles an hour on the top; I haven't tried that yet. It's about 250 feet from my mailbox to my neighbors - I gained 1-2 mph in drag race speed, and that's with me laying over the handlebars to keep the front end down and getting some wheelspin on the pavement. It is a monster holeshot!! I'm going to pull the red spring in the primary and go back to the stock one to see if it's more controllable. I will definitely put a bypass in to switch from the box to the speed sensor; I wouldn't let anyone else drive it the way it is now. If a huge holeshot appeals to you, I would recommend this item. I think this will complement the SquareC CDI that's coming out.

I've heard that the new cdi soon to be released will already have this built in to the thing, along with greatly improved top end improvments as well. I don't want to spend money on something that I won't need later.
Are you sure this does nothing for top end? What does the maker say about improving the top end as well? Can you tell what is in this thing i.e. is it worth the money?

This unit does nothing for top end power. I don't know if the new CDI will have the same correction for the bottom end, but I suspect they will work well together. The price is reasonable. Anyone who wants to know where to get it, express an interest and I will PM you.
