The Scrambler 500 makes 29 at the rear wheels, so 32 for the 700 doesn't sound even close.

The title to my 700 says it has 49.3 SAE HP (obviously at the crank). The power of the machine is impressive, so I would guess that it is probably has about 42-43 at the rear wheels. Just a guess, though.

A belt driven atv will loose about 10-12hp from the crank to the wheels, where-as a gear driven will loose between 6-8hp. So I would guess the 700 would have between 38-40rwhp. Not to shabby.

This is the way mtecate4g explained the troubles with getting accurate HP readings from a CVT equipted quad:

You cant get accurate HP out of a dyno on a belt drive quad. The numbers mean nothing. Except they will show an increase in power but the amount and actual increase will be wrong. The only way to get an accurate dyno number is if you had a way to lock the clutch engaged so it didnt shift up or down. With manual shift quads they leave it in one gear and dont shift. The auto is shifting constantly so the readings would be wrong.

HI GUY'S:
The P650 makes 43hp at the crank...and dirtwheels dynoed the P650 at 31.4 or 31.8hp. If the 700 is ONLY at 40hp to the rear wheels...it is very de-tuned! We P650 owners know that the P650 is very de-tuned. Just a bigger air intake and jetting will unleash 5hp alone. The C.D.I. is the biggest de-tune that Kawi done, and I would imagine they done the same to the V-Force as well. Oh well, the C.D.I is coming for the P650 any day now, so keep your ears open and I'm sure the V-Force's will be along soon.

We dyno snowmobiles at the track for true track hp and tq what makes a belt driven quad any different?

A shaft drive quad will loose between 20-30% hp from the crank to the rear wheels though.

The V-force should have impressive torque numbers stock.

A CDI will definitly wake the 650 or 700 up can't wait till there avaiable to see how the numbers are then.
Someone will have to make wheelie bars.

The sled dynos are properly orientated to measure HP on the Sled CVT. The sled dynos are still not as accurate as they could be. They can only measure peak HP after the clutch has stopped shifting. The Dynos that everyone is using on the belt drive quads was designed to be run in a gear where they measure load. You cant get an accurate load rating when the cluth is constantly shifting unless the dyno the quad is on has been programmed to calibrate for the shift changes. The only place the HP will be farely close is when the clutch is shifted up all the way and the RPM's increase from there. Say the clutch is done shifting at 5500rpm. The timing starts to retard on the 700 at that RPM so you cant actually read the highest HP. The Peak HP on the 700 Should be about 5500rpm.

Here are some factual reasonings to help prove my point.

P650's supposed dyno runs of 31HP
700 supposed dyno run of 32hp

If this is accurate then why would anyone by a 700. I mean my modded 650 has pipe, filter, airbox mods and barely out pulls a z400 in a drag up to 60mph. Based on the supposed dyno numbers the 700 would only be slightly faster then a stock P650 due to the weight advantage so my modded 650 should smoke it or be farely close. Well i had the fiance on the 700 and me on the 650 and she killed me bad. We switched bikes with the same result. MY Prairie is 595lbs and the 700 is 542. If this isnt proof enough i dont know what is.

If the 650 has 42 at the crank and was dynoed at 31.8 at the wheels, then it shows it looses about 10hp from the crank to the wheels. So if you do the same to the 700 in which the title says 49.3 crank hp, that would give the wheels about 39rwhp. Now to some of you, 7.2hp doesn't seem much, but thats 23% more then the 650. 23% more hp buy just adding 60cc is a big difference, since the carbs are the same. Look at when the sp700 came in. It had 25% more hp the the sp500, yet is 200cc bigger. The V-force did about the same with just 60cc. Very well done.
