Default Prairie Differ. Lock

Hi Guys, Love my new Prairie, Ordered new c-series and claws coming in this week. Quick question for you. I've used the Differential Lock when I was in a deep mud hole, pulled out great. My question is, When I now pull on the lever in 4X4 mode it doesn't seem to have alot of tension. Is there a way I can check it do ensure it's working properly? Thanks in advance.

There never seems to be much tension on my bike or my wife's 360 but they both work fine. I quess an easy check would be to see if both front wheels spin when pulling the lever.

If your looking for more technical information then the manual suggests this: Pull the lever with 7 lbs. of force then measure between the lever and the handlebar grip. The clearance should be between 15-25 mm. If your not between these specs then you need to remove the front handlebar cover and adjust the cable adjuster.

Just ask if you need more info.

Steve

Yeah, adjust it like Scotia650 said.

You can check the diff lockup torque, procedure listed on my website.

Thicker oil will make it lockup tighter. Thicker oil also makes steering a little stiffer. I don't recommend dino oil. It gets stiff in the cold and thins out in the heat.

Another way to check if your diffy lock is working; On pavement, put your quad in 4 wheel drive. Drive slowly and turn your handlebars right or left. It should steer fine. Then, while going straight, pull your diffy lock lever. Try to turn. If your diffy is locked, it'll steer like a tank and will buck like a bronco!! Remember, go real slow when you are doing this.

hey bud if its working right you'll know you shouldnt take the diff locks over 17m.p.h because it jumps and you'll tear stuff up but just put on your diff locks and go slow down the road or in mud or somthing
