How do you lighten a Lakota?
#1
Does anybody know what to do to lighten a Lakota? I did all of the performanence modifications that you can do without losing reliability-- Now I want to know how I can lighten it, if possible. Thank you.

One easy way is to find lighter tires. Majority of tires (i.e. spider trax) are extremely heavy. I do believe the tire alone without rim is 22lbs.
Unless you lose some considerable amount of weight, there isn't anything else you can do. Trying to reduce frame weight only leads to poor structural integrity (bend the hell out of everything easy).
Switching to aluminum parts is a good idea but again not nearly as strong as steel. Plus expensive.
If it feels like your quad is too slow or boggy, try changing it's gear ratio or carb jetting.

You could take the two lights off the front and maybe get some of that racing plastic.I think its the same as the Mojave so since its the same it should work.Get some aluminum handlebars and DG Alloy rear grab bars. Also get a aluminum DG front bumper and get some Douglas aluminum wheels.

removing front and rear racks saves ten lbs.. removed front bumper and lights saved 3 lbs..my lakota has douglas rims front and rear (both .190s)front pros and alltracks both stock sizes, did not save any weight. looks cool though. for new lights i used some from auto zone (pilots)mounted to the black plastic just in front of the handle bars
