Default cv joint problem

I noticed today on my 650 that my cv boot by the wheel poppped off. So I took the whole shaft out and cleaned inside the boot and the joint itself because it sounded pretty gritty. My question is when I went to put the shaft back in, the little metal ring on the end that goes in the front end broke because I used to much force. Is there a trick to get the shaft in without hammering on it and not break the ring? Thanks for any help Brad

Default cv joint problem

you were just being too aggressive you just put the shaft in and find the proper placing
you will feel it alide a bit and then jusat tap with a rubber mallet
just had to replace my boots as i ripped one had no problem
just be gentle with the next one
