Default thought the black spring was supposed to help

i installed a brand new belt and the black spring on my wheeler just two weeks ago and already the belt squeels on takeoff. it done it before, thats why i put the new belt on and the black spring in and it quit doing it. i cant believe its doing it again already. that REALLY pi$$es me off!!!! any suggestions? another thing, i think my back shock went to he!! already too. when you push down on the back and let up on it quickly, instaed of it coming back up kinda slow, it flies back up and makes a clunking noise like it does when you bottom a shock out. do you HAVE to have the circlip pliers to make the belt adjustment??

The black spring help's, but only if the belt is tight. In spec isn't good enough, and Kaw know's this by now, the belt must be the TIGHTEST it can possibly be to aviod squeeling,.also you need to clean the sheave's when a new belt goes on, emory cloth or REAL fine sandpaper do well followed by a wash down with brake and part's cleaner, all this will add 3-4 time's more belt life........

You do not have to have the circlip pliers, but it makes it alot easier. I'm running my belt without any shims it does squell a little at idle, but I am told that the belt will last longer this way. I might put a .1 shim in to help wrid the annoying squell.

Sorry, you're right. Find a shop that can rebuild it, as they are rebuildable. You don't want to know the price of a new one!

shotgun,

no my belt is not on backwards but thanks for the reply.

NovaKaw650,

that sucks about my rear shock!! i dont understand what happened to it. i have never jumped the thing or anything like that. the only thing i have done is for one, had my plow on the front a few times during winter, and for two, when i haul it in the back of my short bed full size truck i have to leave the tailgate down so i just strap it down by the front racks with ratchet straps and that makes the front squat pretty good therefore it makes the rear shock extend upward. do you think that would have done it?
