Hey guys, I'm going to Oklahoma in two weeks to ride the dunes. I've never been before and was wondering if anyone has ever played in the sand.
I have heard different opinions of the Gators in the sand. One guy told me to reverse them and they would do better, another said I wouldn't have any problems, still another said that Gators sucked in sand. I am not going to buy new tires until after I give them a try.
Any tips or suggestions for riding in the sand all weekend? Thanks in advance for your responses.

I have 28" Gators on my prarie and they go great in the sand. Now i don't know about turning them backwards {never tried} But i do it all with my Gators Except in really deep snow {dig your self into a hole} But you need to keep an eye on your air box if you have an aftermarket snorkel. I have never
had any personal problems but i know some one who has.
2002 Prarie 650 [Aztec Red]
28" Gators C-series rims
Highlifter Heat fighter kit
Lift Kit
Warn 3000 lb winch
Dimond-g Snorkel
IDSX 2 Supertrap exhaust
K/N Air/oil filter
And more mods to come

Don't worry about paddles for OK. sand dunes. Your 650 will work fine without the extra expense.
Was there 2 week ago and out ran my 400 Scrambler with pipe and paddles, out ran my neighbor's 250R with everthing done and paddles, but couldn't out run my buddy's 440 Aaen Polaris '98 Sport that had paddles.
At OK. the dunes are wet in morning and evening (damp), so paddles aren't much good until the sand dries up. Plus the dunes are small enough to back up in reverse on your 650 with stock tires. Or go down half way and turn back up and make it to the top.
I didn't use paddle when we went to CA. Imperial Sand Dunes around Glamis, didn't need them !!!!!!!!!!!!!
