Dalton Industries Clutch Springs?

Firearm, Lurch,
Please report to us about the performance of the Dalton Primary after you get it installed. I puchased the black and red springs from Mike Penland and have no interest in installing the red but would like to know about the Dalton 'cause it sounds like it is not as extreme as the red. If anyone wants my (never installed) Penland red spring, PM me and you can have it for shipping costs.

The red spring isn't as harsh as people let on. I have no idea what people are thinking when they say it is harsh. It is wimpy.. I mean I can still crawl at .00001 feet per hour if I want to. I think most people (no phun intended) just don't know how to work the throttle.
Put in the red spring, hell I think I'm gonna get the orange.

AJ650,
Anytime, I never had anyone wanting to pass on a basic stock 650 with an open check to go nuts with, the ideas are flooding my mind. Don't know if I can sleep tonight gives me goose bumples just thinking about it LOL. Where abouts do you reside. I have a friend from Sweden who is sending me his motor to revamp. Can you picture it is cheaper to send it to me, rebuild it here (in the great white north) and send it back to him than do it there.

Alltoys, just checked my lottery ticket. No dice. Maybe saturday when they draw again! On the other hand I could send you a check...(cue Jeff Foxworthy clip, "A check? Hell yeah I can write you a check. I thought you wanted money") I'm in Wyoming. As for the the difference (ref. "great white north") we're in year 4 of a drought. I saw snow maybe 3 times this winter. The last storm was a doozie, but not nearly enough to make a real difference. If I ever do send it to you I think I'll tag along and see if i can get a bear and a moose. A biiiig bear. My wife doesn't want a bearskin rug, but it would sure look good in my office.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the red spring too, better than the stocker. It did take alot of getting used to, but I had no problem rock crawling either. But I like the lower engagement of the Dalton primary more than the EPI, and it keeps the RPM's in the powerband a little better. A friend got the whole EPI set from H/Lifter, he thought the orange spring would be the hot ticket. I could always take him by a small margin in a race, after the orange spring was in his, I could flat out smoke him when we hit mid-range. He couldn't even back up w/o using the reverse over-ride, the RPM's were that high.

I think the reason my red spring works well is because my HMF raised my powerband higher in the rpm range and now the spring makes it operate there, it depends on the mod's and what pipe you have I think, sounds like the Dalton spring is a happy medium between stock and the EPI......
