Just a thought, but has anyone thought about putting a round air filter over the stacks in the '02 650? I was looking at it today and it seems with just a bit of modification (something to screw it down to) that a round air filter could be used. Any thoughts on this?

 

My first question would be why would you want to do that?

 

I reckon the same reason that people are switching from the '02 airbox to the '03 airbox. It has a larger filter area so would flow a bunch better. If a person had a small filter over each stack, don't you think that it would flow better? Just a thought?

 

You surely could. You would have to do something with those breather ports on the top of the carbs.

You could cut lawns for people to earn the money for the 03 airbox parts and probably waste less time than it would take to mess with it. The 03 filter is quite nice.

I have all the parts here but one stack, and I can't do anything without it. So I haven't changed it over yet.

You are right about the airbox. I will wait for your report and see what you think. I have a guy getting ready to jet it and he wanted to wait until I get all the parts before beginning, so I might have to put it off a bit longer and get a new airbox.
