Forgetting the drive clutch on the 650????
#1
I have heard alot about the driven clutch but how about the the drive clutch. It needs maintenance also. You must maintain the rollers and the weight pivot points, buy keeping them clean and rolling free and I know it says not to lube them but Comet has a lube made specifically for the drive clutch. I don't run in much mud but I do hit the rocks and the mountains alot I have 200hrs and over 1500 mi. on the original belt and I just took out the last shim today I can probably get at least another 600 or more miles out of it. I don't know if is because of the maintenance on the front clutch or the GREAT advice I have gotten on this web site. I have ridden snowmobiles for many years so I know the importance of proper drive clutch maintenance. It can all be done without removing the clutch from the Prairie. Just push in on the face of the clutch and wedge something in it to keep it open so you can free up the rollers and the weights. Then clean them with alcohol then when dry put Comet clutch lube on it DO NOT USE ANYTHING ELSE!!!!! Well after all the good advice I recieved here I hope I can help you all out there. I just know that this has worked great for me.
