I'm am probably going to buy a 87 tecate-4 next weekend and was wondering if I should look at any certain parts or areas of the quad for any common problems that they have. Any help you have would be appreciated feel free to add any other comments in if you want.

 

One common thing to check for is any weakness in the frame from the footpegs forward. They tend to rot out in that area. Other than that, check the rear shock and make sure that it still seems firm and don't forget to check your compression. Also, check those hubs on the rear axle -- make sure that they don't have any play. Good luck.
