Default Will jets really only give you 5% more on v force?

I just bought a V force and soon found out that it was jetted to work best at or around sea level. I ride at between 5000 and 7000 feet and my bike backfires and sometimes does not even want to idle when I hit the higher altitudes. I also noticed that the power is really lacking in the higher altitudes. I ordered a K&N jet kit and and am still waiting for it to arrive. It said on the web site that it gives you a 5% increace throught the powerband and that does not sound like much to me. Has anyone installed jets and if so how much did it help? Thanks!

I guess it would depend on the size of jets you install...... 5% is a modest change....
changing jets / air box / and exhaust could make as much as 20% total change.
