Default 28" Gators or 589's

I know it has been asked before but I’m getting close to making a decision. From what I have read so far they seem to be about the same on hard pack and mud. The only difference is you can get the Gator in 28x12 (589 28x11) and the Gator a little cheaper. The 589’s seem to be a little more popular. What do you guys think? Someone push me over the edge so I can make the jump on one or the other. I hate spending money on something I can’t test.

I have 27" Gators and I really like them. Not bumpy on hard pack over 5 mph, and they really dig in the mud. I have only been stuck once since putting them on 3 months ago, and that was because I was seeing what it took to get them stuck! They are pretty heavy though, sorry I can't give the weight. That seems to be the only drawback. I would love to have two sets of tires, one for trails and racing, and one for mud, but for right now, the Gators handle both pretty well.

I have had 26" 589 MT's and now 27" Gators. They were real close to the same size, but the Gator is a tad wider on the rear tires. They are both good tires giving the edge to the 589's in mud and tire wear. On the other hand, I feel the Gators are much lighter, even being the 589 is smaller. I think the Gators ride just a little better on hard pack also. Mine are showing wear at 500 miles, but I can't seem to pick another tire. I think I may get some 28" Gators myself soon.
OOps, I lied....I would maybe opt for the MudBugs if they came in a 28".
