Mitsubishi Sues Over Outlander Name
#1
Mitsubishi is suing Bombardier Inc. to keep the Canadian company from using the Outlander name on an all-terrain recreational vehicle, Bloomberg News reported.
Mitsubishi says it filed for a U.S. trademark in 1997 and began selling the Outlander SUV last spring. Mitsubishi's suit contends that Bombardier "adopted the identical mark Outlander to identify ATVs with knowledge of Mitsubishi's prior trademark rights." Mitsubishi says Bombardier's use of the name would cause consumer confusion and has asked a federal judge in Santa Ana, California, to enjoin Bombardier's use of the name.
