tommyboy has a point, if you get the p650, and slap a cdi on it, the new machine wouldnt be able to touch it, it would waste it.......but if they came out w/ a cdi for the new machine...........

HI GUY'S;
If Kawi puts the 700 engine into a Prairie it's all about sales$$$ It would be the largest displacement sport-ute available (the Pol700 is 687cc and the V-force is 698cc...something like that) All the Manufacturers want to make money...so make em bigger and people will buy them cause they have to get the biggest and best. When ignorant people ask me about my bike, they respond with" yea but that Polaris is a 700 duhhh !!!" I say yea but it's still not as powerful or as fast!

Its about Kawisaki saying that they have the all out best 4x4 and use the least amount of money doin it. Just sounds funny why would they change the best 4x4 made. It sounds like they would wait for something better than the prarie to come out before they went into a project this big.
Unless they know something about the other companies that we dont, see what i mean. Just somethin to munch on.

If they start making the prairies 700's it's only to going to be a cost saving measure, as listed above. An extra 50cc is not going to make a more powerful engine. 50cc's is only 1.7 oz. Thats less than 1/4 the volume in that tiny little juice glass in your cabinet. A monster engine that does not make. But it will save kawi some $ on cylinder heads, pistons... as they will be able to use the same parts on 2 different bikes. Ultimately that could lead to more power as that $ is spent elsewhere. Maybe a better belt, which would be a good way to go. They probably won't be building a new engine, just enlarging the bore on the current ones. they'll probably be able to use the exact same castings, so I would not expect price to rise. CDI will likely be the same as the internals will be so similar.

It's like guys who brag about all the extra power they got after boring their engine .30 over ( like it's a big block). So now they have a 306 instead of a 302. Won't show a diff. on the dyno. 50cc's sounds like a lot (I mean it's 50 after all, that's like 10 times better than 5), but remember a cc is about the size of your pinky nail. Not really substantial. The only part I'm worried about is the possibility that the aftermarket may shift focus from the 650. But I hope to have my bike insanely fast by then and won't worry about it. If I need faster I'll drop in a chev. 350.

My recomendation (if you're willing to wait) is to wait until the 700 is announced and the dealers are dumping the 650's for next to nothing. Grab one, spend the extra $ on some goodies and eat the new bikes for lunch. But that's just me and I'm cheap. If you want cheaper, once they are officially announced you're going to see tons of people selling their used bikes for the new, only to be grossly dissapointed when the new loan bike runs the same as the paid off one they just sold.

btw 650cc approx. 39cubic inches, 700 approx. 42.

The 700 is not just more cc's, it is also stroked different than the 650! The heads on the 650 and the 700 are the same. Yes I agree tho, it would save Kawi money to run the same parts in both machines. They would also be able to say,,, it's a 700 Prairie. The reason I'm thinking of trading off the 02 Prairie is because it has been ridden very hard and is kinda getting wore out and by the time we are done running it in the 12 Hour race I'd say it will be time to update and if I'm going to update to a newer machine why not go with a 700 Prairie if it's released instead of a 03 650.

Are you planning to get a new one before the race or after?? I'd assume after, which would be a good idea! By that time, Bob will probably want something else and give you the V-Force Is the p650 fixed yet??

I think a p700 sport sounds cool...would that be something like a Scrambler, having 4wd but looking like a sport with better suspension than the p650?

I hope my husband doesn't read this thread. He's thrilled with the p650...tell him there's even better and we have to go get a new fourwheeler!

I see, I didn't realize you were talking about a replacement bike. I have not heard any hard data reg. the 700, everything I've seen has been rumor, so I'm going off of existing parts until I see otherwise. If they keep the same bore but increase stroke there should be a few extra ft/lbs over just an increased bore. But as I've said b4, I'm no quad guru. The prairie is my first, I just know a little about engines and whatnot so I could be wrong. There are definitely some interesting possibilities, the next couple years should be kicking out some interesting products.

Hey guys, check out that little pic of ATV Gurl flying like a bird on a rancher! Them things weren't meant to do that,,, were they? LOL I have not fully decided what to do yet as far as trading this thing goes! With the info I got on it from the Kawi dealer, I'm not so sure I want to keep this one, I may get an 03 and strip this one and swap all the goodies over. Won't know for sure till I get the rear end thing taken care of! I might do it before the race so that we are on a new machine!

Alltoys, while Bob is there are you gonna send me back that fuel tank and lets see,,,,what else was there,,,hmmm,,,OH,, a modulator! LOL

AJ650, from what I have been told the 700 Prairie may not be too far out in the future! I asked my Kawi dealer again about it and he said to ask the guys online if I want to know more! He said we seem to get info here before they do! It seems that Kawi doesn't let their dealers know these things as much as Yamaha does. Too bad for them and us!

P700 or V-force.....2 different machines for 2 seperate uses...here's something to think about, I heard through the grapevine that Kawasaki isn't going to just add another 50cc from the P650 to the P700....maybe skipping right past that and onto a P800....does that throw a monkey wrench into the mix?
They follow these forums, they see what Kawai folks say and what they are looking for in their products, going from a 650 to a 700 isn't a big leap, but from a 650 to an 800! "build it and they will come".
(just my opinion)
