ATVGurl,
If I were a little closer I would love to see you take my machine for a rip do a test run on the track to see where you stand, mind you I might have to down tune it a little to keep a fair advantage LOL. If you are daring enough I would like to see how far you could make her fly.

Let me telll a little story. There was a youngs lass who raced on road rice rockets she was constantly in the 2-3 place finishing all the time. Her only problem she did not have the aggressive stature to put the bike down in the corners. Don't get me wrong she was a very good rider and she admitted she was nervous to take the machine to within mm of the pavement. All I can say who wouldn't be, I asked her if she would race my blown 80 cube Harley down a narrow track at 190 mph. She was apprehensive at first but she loved to have that thumper beneath her. The raw power gave her the biggest smile I have seen on any face for a long time. This is a few years back now but she won some of the biggest races in the US and Canada on my Hog. She raced for 5 years after I sold her the bike set records for the winnngist person on the 1/4 mile track.

From what Prairiewrench has told me and your ability to keep up with the big boys in the woods tells me you have the ability. If you had the equal machine you could make the guys nervous for sure. If I had the time I would love to see you ride my 650 I bet you could make it fly!!!!

AJ650,
You have a good point 2004 will be an interesting year. Like you say a 650 with a modded cdi will match any 700 or 800 out there for sure especially when they the manufactuers will down tune them.

I think its crazy to think about waiting for a P700. If the 2004 is a 650 (what I have been told) Then even if the 2005 is a 700 and comes out a little early your still looking at waiting well over a year for a P700. I think that is nuts. You only live once, get a P650 and the new cdi. Then enjoy it for a year or so instead of making yourself half crazy waiting on a P700 that may or may not even come out.

Besides a P650 with a hopped up CDI will be much faster than any P700 or even 800. What if they make the new P700 cdi so tough to crack no one will touch it. The a P650 with aftermarket CDI might be the baddest 4x4 ever.

I think the risk/reward of waiting for a prairie 700 is no contest. Get the 650.

I was told an interesting thing by my father in law who works as a maintance man on an essembly line....... When the 700 first come out he said that he bet anything they will do away with the 650 motor and go to a 700 motor... just because if your going to make to seperate engines you have to have 2 assembly lines. That means twice the workers, twice the parts, etc. I really belive that kawi will come out with a prairie 700 in 2004.

I think it's gonna have the same engine as the kvf700 sportsbike but it will be de tuned just a little. After all you can't have a 4x4 keeping up with your sportsbike now can you.

As for the prairie 800 i really don't think they will go that big. (Why, when they already own the market in the best built, best running, fastest, most reliable, 4x4 machine.) I have also heard rumors of a polaris 800 coming out. All i have to say is BRING IT ON i will finish the race or make it to the top of the mountain sooner or later

Question for owners of P650's...... has anybody done their homework to see if the 650 engine can handle any more torque if new CDI were added?
Can the tranny handle it? how about driveshafts? crankshafts? I am the first person who is all in favor of having my 650 perform to the max but not to the point of messing up my engine! This is not a wise-a%^
statement, just curious.....

I read on another site that where suzuki has ties with kawasaki and artic cat that they were going to release a big bore quad next year- with either the 650 or 700 kaw engine in a modified artic cat independent suspension chassis. Sounds very interesting.

Cleve,

Just ask Alltoys what a P650 can handle. He's nearing the 100 horsepowor he's trying for on a blown P650.He did have a failure, though.I believe he twisted an axle and broke the output shaft on an earlier setup.Something about nitrous and boost at the same time, both in generous amounts,,,,,,,,,,,,he'd be the guuy to ask, anyway

oh..... my heart is set on a Rincon because of how plush it rides, how nice it handles, and... it's a HONDA

BUT.... if Kawi came out with a 700 4x4 with IRS, that's what I'd get!!!

Kawasaki's website said the 650 vtwin is a kawi design and not part of the kawi/suzuki alliance.

Wow how the market can explode. In my opinion a prarie 800 doesnt make sence. Thats because

1. They have the best 4x4 quad made, why would they spend money taking the prarie 650 engine and boring/tuning it to 800cc or build a whole new engine when they already make alot on what they have now. A saying comes to mind "If it aint broke dont fix it" and i bet thats what Kawasaki officials think when a prarie 800 comes to mind. You have to remember that they are in the business of making money.
Now a 700 seems alot more logical to me, they might even save money because they wont have to tune it a whole lot, and can drop the whole 650 engine altogether. So who knows maybe they can save money in the long run.

2. See one
