In all honesty, has anyone who has changed the snorkle to an aftermarket or other setup really notice a difference? I don't mean "I think it felt faster" but any REAL difference? I've considered swapping out, but I can't seem to justify the expense of a diamond G, or even $15 for a napa when it seems that just by venting the box you should end up with the same difference. I know no-one really has access to a dyno or anything... I just know (from car racing) so many parts that get bought and the owner says he can feel the difference just because he knows the part is there (spoiler on a ricer for example). I've seen dyno runs that show the opposite, but the owner says he feels faster.

Let me put it this way, more air equal's more power ,right, with the proper jetting of course, now I can pay about 10 bucks for a hose here, and you say You can't justify paying the money when vent's will do the same, if you want the uni-vent's with the filter's in them, you pay about 8-10 bucks for 6 of them, you will need to buy about 3 pack's of them to equal the airflow of the hose, so the hose for 10-15 bucks or 25-30 for the vent's, which is more justified now..........

AJ 650, I would agree with you about some mods, but in this case your mistaken. I personally would never pay 60 bucks for that other snorkle cause its not worth that. But everyone knows more airflow (napa hose) + more gas (bigger jets) and less restiricive exhaust. (drill muffler) will make any engine produce more horse power.

Lets add up the cost, snorke was under $12, a 145 size jet $5, drilling out your muffler, FREE if you have the right tools. So about $17 bucks total. I personally am not rich, but I can afford to spend $17 bucks to mod my bike. In my opinion even if I just pick up 1 hp its worth it, plus it makes the engine run more efficently (less restrictive exhaust).

Based on personal experience I think its not very wise to drill out your box, unless your running very large jets and already have a bigger snorkle. Because: 1. your pulling in hot air holes vs cold air with the snorkle, and too if you make too many holes in the box your going to hurt your performance. Plus univents will cost you more than the napa snorkle does. I drilled my box when I first got the bike and it SLOWED my bike down cause I went over board, and I was pulling in too much air and not enough gas.

Stakk: I'm aware of the connection between fuel/air and power. Thank you very much mister smarty pants.

LetcherKY: I'm not saying the parts are useless, I've never used them so I'm looking for answers.

I'm just questioning how much extra air the snorkle or tube really gets. I haven't seen one, and i haven't pulled the stock to look at it, so I don't know how much difference there is between them. Why not pull the snorkle completely and pull air straight into the box? Has anyone made a ram-air setup that pulls air through the under handlebar block of plate instead of arround it?

I've found filtered vents, not uni's but look the same, 6 for $4. But why do the vents need to be filtered? There are no extra filters between the snorkle and air filter, so why are the extra's needed? Also, once the bike is underway (especially at the speeds I generally ride) the warm air should be being replaced by a constant supply of cool.

I also ride a ducati on the street. One of the very popular mods is to remove the airbox lid completely, using a billet hold-down ring to keep the filter in place. Once the jet's or in my case map are adjusted, they run significantly better than stock. I know I'm making comparisons on dis-similar machines, but the physics are the same...

Also, what vehicle is the napa hose intended for, is it upper or lower radiator? For people that don't have access to actual napa parts, this info would be helpful as regardless of brand the hose should be the same.

thanks.
