kfx400,First ride at the Motocross track!!!!!!!!
#1
I've had my kfx 400 for a month now and I finally got it to the motocross track. I'm pretty new to the ATV world, but I've raced Dirt Bikes for a number of years. I want to start out by saying that I think the kfx 400/Z-400's are awesome machines. The track I went to had many diffrent jumps(big, small), two whoops sections, and many diffrent rythem sections, and lots of huge berms.
On the jumps the kfx 400 did very well. The suspension soaked up the bigger jumps great. And you could hardly tell the small ones where there it was so smooth. The only problem I had, was the rear end kicked out on me a couple times. I'm pretty sure it wasn't the bike. The track was dry/slick, and I think that was the problem. Even so, it didn't bug me a bit. Overall, I like the suspension very well.
Now to the whoop sections. The kfx was awesome in this department. Hit the berm in second gear and off you go! Doubling the whoops with the kfx was smooth and easy. Even if you came up alittle short the kfx was very forgiving. The suspension would smooth most of it up. The motor makes good low end power to get you off the berms and over the whoops section to.
I can't say to much about the rythem sections. I jumped over them pretty good, but didn't open her up. I wrecked on my dirt bike a few weeks earlier going WFO. So I just cooled my jets with the kfx today. But there where a couple Z-400's that flew threw the rythems sections. I'm sure mine could to, but I wasn't up to it today. SORRY!!!!!
The handling of this bike was awesome. There is a big left handed dog leg that I flew threw in 4th gear.Handled like a dream. The kfx went around the berms nice and easy to. Turn the wheel, lean, pin it, and around you go!
The motor worked well for the type of riding I did today. It wasn't awesome, but it did get the job done with no problem. I would like a little more power out of the kfx. (pipe, yea I know) Suspension worked well to. The rear shock was alittle soft, but other than that it worked great.
This atv is worth every penny I spent on it. Seems at home on the trails and the motocross track to. I hope this helps people out when it come to making a choice for buying their next ATV.
