Vforce Break In
#1
I still am waiting for my dealer to get my V-Force owners manual, in the mean time could those of you who were lucky enough to get one tell me what the manual says about the break in period? I know there are different opinions about breaking in a machine, feel free to share them. But I really would like to know what the manual says as well.
I have put about 8 hours on it so far, it seems to me on my last Kawasaki they suggested a 10 hour break in period.
I am thinking about heading up to St. Anthony on Memorial day and need to know how much I can let her run. Lived within 2 hours of the place my whole life and I have never been there!
One funny story: Been going to some small dunes to break in my machine with my buddy who runs on a stock DS650 Baja. He was very matter of fact that I would never be able to touch him in a race. He talked me into racing and I really expected to lose, I even laid off a bit because I don't think I am completely broken in yet. The end result was me by a quad length and a very confused DS rider who talked about Mod's the rest of the day. I know there are many variables, riders, tires substrate ect....I am not saying my machine is the fastest on earth. But I thought the rest of you V-Force owners might enjoy the story and understand why everytime I think about it I can't stop grinning!
If you read this Hicks, please understand I had to share this story and I know I will soon eat my words.....but it really was funny!

Yes, book says 10 hours, but my theory is break it in how you plan to ride it. Two years ago I toured the Honda ATV/Motorcyle plant in Ohio. Once a bike or quad is built, it strapped down and started the rider then procedes to start it up and go through all the gears wide open... shuts it down and it is pute ina crate! There is your break in period...
I picked my v-force up on a Friday night, Satuday morning took it to some coal hills and the rest is history... However, next Monday my 785 kit and dual exhaust gets installed to make it the meanest V-Force in PA!!!

10 hours ride time no more than 1/2 throttle "impossible for me" then change the engine and gear oil. You'll be amazed how this bike comes to life after its broken in. Dont be surprised if you continue to beat that DS.
