Sundiro Sunray Help
#1
I posted this in the other thread then I realized it should go here. Sorry I'm new to this site. Here is my question.
Hello everyone,
I just picked up this four wheeler for my kids. I bought it not running. I rebuild chainsaws for a hobby so I'm used to working on engines. Anyhow, here are my issues. I have spark (lots of spark), compression is 140#, and fuel. I have so much fuel it's leaking from the exhaust. It motor will cough and try to run but never catches. I removed the exhaust and could get it to run for a second or two and it shuts off. I took the carb off and it looks really clean. So now I'm confused. The reeds look good. I did take them off and they do whistle. I found a small hose that goes to the carb but didn't go anywhere. Could this be my problem? Also can I bypass the electric choke on it? Also are there manuals for this machine?

Welcome to the forums.
Clean the carb paying attention to the float needle and seat.
Fuel is filling up the motor thus no start.
Remove the plug, put a rag over the plug hole and spin the motor till the fuel is out. Apply full throttle till it starts.
The easiest fix is a on/off valve in the fuel line.
It seems that all the carbs with the electric choke have problems.

I don't know anything about sundiro sunrays. You might want to search the forums here to see what info is available. I recall that there has been some posts about these quads in the past.
The electric choke is easy to test to see if that is your problem:
Troubleshooting
In the link click on the Electric Choke heading...
Keep in mind that electric chokes almost always fail in the enrichen mode, which means that the quad would start up and run fine cold, then get progressively worse as the engine warms up.

Thank you for the replies. I pulled the carb all apart today. Everything is clean and spotless inside. After install, I could get it to start for a few minutes (warmed up) then it would stall. After the stall, it would not refire at all. Can I just bypass the electric choke? Will it run if it's removed. Does anyone have any source for parts for these machines.
