Default kfx80 starting issues

I just picked up a non running 03 kfx80. Ive done the basics so far
1-drain old gas
2-clean carb 3 times
3-boil carb
4-clean air filter
5-new spark plug with correct gap
6-put in line on off fuel valve on and block vacuum port on carb and petcock
I am using the pull start,(I think the electric starter is dead)
HERE is my problem I can only get the quad to start and run if I stand the quad up on the rear wheels. or if i take the air intake of the front of carb and cover with my hand. Once its starts i can remove my hand and it idles nice give it gas revs up well. If i connect the intake it runs well. If anybody can help I would greatly appreciate it

LOL!!!
I just responded to your PM. I see more info now.
I'd start with the reed inspection.

Is it possible to put the reed in upside down?

It's a metal reed. You'll be looking for a crack/piece broke off.
The reed block possibly may be able to be put in upside down (I gotta go check) but the reed itself has no top or bottom.
Like I mentioned in the PM, a compression test would be nice so we can eliminate that aspect.-

UPDATE::
"I can get the quad to start by putting my hand in front of the air intake at carb. I then can connect the intake and the bike runs good.
Why is it that it will start by placing my hand over the intake?"

I've recommended the finger choke method to start them before altho it's usually after a carb/motor rebuild or the like and it only needs to be 1-2 times.
If you need to hand choke it every time (as you are stating) I'm leaning toward compression.

OK so I checked the compression and it reads around 148 on a cold motor with using pull start about 10 times.
I still can not get the quad to start with out using the my fingers to choke at carb intake hole. Once its started I can hook up the intake boot and ride with out any problems. When I shut it off and try to restart using the pull start I wont start
I dont know what else to do.
I checked the reeds they look ok
I've cleaned carb 3 times and boiled it 1 time.
Can someone clarify for me what is happening when i close the intake hole at carb with my fingers. I assume its just cutting the air flow to carb as if I was using the manual choke?
Could the issue be just needing a new air filter?
I also dont have the battery hooked up?
I see no oil or drips near head or by the fan
I also dont see any leaks near the belt, so i dont think it would be crank seal issue either. I cant figure this out for the life of me. Please anybody have any ideas what i should do next

Update If I sit on quad and shake it to the right I can get it to start. So Im guessing bad petcock. Just ordered a replacement hope that is the problem. And yes it has had a full tank the whole time I've been trying to figure out the issue.
If not the petcock maybe the float gets hung up and just a little shake frees it. Not sure.. Will update when I get the new petcock

update 3 - I just installed new petcock and electric starter. Still have same issue of not getting quad to start.
It will pull start everytime if I stand up on the rear wheels, Then I can lower the front wheels on the ground and it acts normal. Will idle and drive perfect.
What could cause this issue its driving me nuts
I have clean the carbs so many times and now I dont think its a carb issue but I dont know what else it could be .
ANY IDEAS WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED
