Default LT 80 Tires/Rims

I bought an 2002 LT80 a few months ago. I believe it still has the stock tires on it. Took my son to the dunes and he loved it but i think some bigger tires would be useful to not have him get stuck as much. I have a few questions about getting new tires.

Do I just stick with the stock tire size or is it fine to use different size tires (mainly wider)? I'm was thinking of getting the 3/120 to 4/110 conversion hit so I can put different rims on there to open up my options. I have 10" rims already that'll work with the 4/110. Does the LT80 have enough power to turn wider tires if I get 20x11x10 tires and will they fit (looking at ITP Holeshot 20x11x10)? Should I just stick with the stock tire size and rims? There are decent options for the stock tire size, but the width of the tires are all the same so I think he'll continue to have issues getting stuck?

If I get wider tires, should I get the Midwest Mini Torque Gearing kit? Or is staying stock gearing going to be fine with wider tires?

These were the stock sized tires I was looking at: https://www.midwesttraction.com/stor...atv--utv-tire/
These were the ITP Holeshots I was looking at getting for my 4/110 rims (if I get the 3/120 to 4/110 conversion kit):

Any other suggestions are welcome. New to these forums but I'm sure I'll be posting here more. Thanks for the help.

Midwest's torque gearing is 87/88 gear size. Get their chain tensioner. If you want that gearing, I recommend getting stock gears from Suzuki.
My kids went most everywhere on stock tires (glamis). It's all about motor for sand. "Wider isn't always better". IMO, the tire size you mention is way too big.

Awesome, thanks for the reply. I ended up going with an 8" tire which you recommended for max width in an old thread I found.

I also found a thread you replied to saying you had clutch rollers? I was thinking of shaving mine down to the 180g but if you had ones already cut to 180g I would just buy them off you (if you're selling them).

I will probably just stick with stock gearing unless you recommend changing it. Sounds like I just want the chain tensioner and build up the motor a little and I will be good to go?

You still porting these motors? I am not quite ready yet but maybe in a year or two I will look into porting. My boy is still a little too young.

Thanks again for the reply. Been looking at a lot of old posts here and you've been a great source of info on all of them.

Thank you. yes the front clutch has rollers. You can try removing 2 rollers. The rear clutch shoes is what we cut. I would have to do yours.
Hopefully I'll be around when you need a motor.
