Default Predator 90 governor

I bought the Pred for my son and I think I have riden it more than he has. I am at 185 pounds and it pulls me around just fine. I have not riden the breeze so I cannot say anything about that bike. The feature that I liked about the Pred is the fact that it comes with a governor that keeps it from going over 15mph. Then for later on you can remove the little jumper on the gov and it opens it up to 35mph. What I did was take a switch and mounted in next to the key switch so that I could easily go from governed to open real easy. All in all a fun little quad. So far it has survived my abuse, I have even jumped it a couple of times.
Was reviewing a few posts and found this one above, am interested in this governor to open the bike more.
I have the screw right out now and the wee man still wants more.

What is this governor?

How do you open this up?

Thanks in advance

Rodders

Underneath the plastic right up front on the left hand side there is a black box attached to the frame with a rubber gromet. Pull it out a little bit and you will see two terminals and a chrome jumper. Remove the jumper and that is it. Like I said on mine (my son's) I added a switch so that I can still regulate him for the time being and do not have to constantly reach under and change things. All this governor does is limit the RPM to keep the speed down at 15 MPH or below.

The only thing i am unsure about is that it limits it to about 15 mph.

I have done nothing to our quad other than taking the screw right out on the throttle limiter, and i am sure ours does a good bit more than 15mph more like 25mph approx are u sure on the 15mph thing?

The reason i ask is i am no expert, and on some other posts people have said you have to replace the cdi, pipe, etc on this quad to get the increased performance, and that there were no quick mods like disconnecting a wire that u could do to this quad.

Cheers

To really open up that machine, you need to change the cdi to one without a rev limiter. The stock one still is a big limiter even after you remove that thing. Next, replace the pipe with a aftermarket one. Replace the clutch with a aftermarket one. replace the carburetor with a aftermarket one. Replace the rear sprocket with a aftermarket one. You do those things and tell will run rather will.

We just removed the jumper on the CDI (little silver piece with 2 screws in it)and this thing moves. I am not sure about replacing it and what the difference would be, but let me tell you this LiL' bike flies' with the jumper off. If you got a manual look on page 1.11 and you will see what I am talking about if not shoot me your email and I will send you the page.

TY

I've just been sorting out charging problems on an Outlaw and it has a similar "black box" limiter, right beside the battery, under the seat. It looked like a fuse box and, once the top was off, a chrome strip is where the fuse would be. Earlier in this 20 year old post, someone wrote "Underneath the plastic right up front on the left hand side there is a black box attached to the frame with a rubber gromet. Pull it out a little bit and you will see two terminals and a chrome jumper. Remove the jumper and that is it" There can't be many black boxes up there with two wires sticking out.
